LUMBRAL* is a liminal space for artistic and literary research and production.
It is, all together, a place and a concept. It is a container of ideas and experiences; A leeway for creativity and transformation; a transit area with a mobile identity, where contemporaneity is questioned.
The concept of LUMBRAL is associated with a state of transition an uncertainty, where different places, states and dimensions converge; where the “has been” and the “will be” coexist.
The architectural intervention and regeneration of the 1930 rationalistic building, located at the core of vibrant Mexico City’s Roma District, correspond to the notion of LUMBRAL as a co-creative space for urban and liminal projects that further education, art, culture and social innovation.
LUMBRAL premises include exhibition areas, classrooms, cafeteria, artist’s studios and guest rooms.
*LUMBRAL comes from the Latin liminaris, meaning whatever comes first, the initiation to knowledge in a specific subject matter, a threshold between two states; influenced by lumen: light.
